Discover the Art of Brandee Robinson: Original Works & Custom Creations

A private collection refers to an assortment of works or valuable items owned by an individual or organization. In the context of museums and art galleries, this term indicates that certain pieces on display are not owned by the institution but are on loan, either temporarily or for an extended period.

A 2022 study revealed that only 11% of art showcased in museums is created by women, and just 1.2% by African Americans. Additionally, galleries often take 40% to 50% of the profit from an artist’s work. While this may seem reasonable due to the marketing and clientele services provided by the gallery, artists are frequently still responsible for promoting their own exhibitions. Continued collaboration with a gallery often hinges on their sales performance, making it an extremely competitive space. This is especially true for artists who pursue alternative paths outside of formal university training.
